Media Text

The Media Text is the examination of a form of media that is in a different form of media an example being of how one form of media is advertised in a different form of media. DayZ was advertised in a trailer as gritty and realistic zombie survival horror, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies had a trailer that shows a more action video rather than the survival horror aspects. The advertising we would have for our game is a trailer that shows off the gameplay and the levels

Genre

A Genre in a game is a style of video game that differs from others in different genres by several noticeable ways an example being that a 2D platformer is different from a First-Person Shooter by the perspective that the player can see from and how the player attacks their enemies. The genre of all three games are similar, Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies are in First-Person throughout the course of the game and DayZ is a mixture of Third and First-Person, however all three games have a strong sense of survival horror but they have it in different ways Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies has the main character survive as long as possible, DayZ has the main character have to deal with things like hunger and thirst and Killer Klowns from Outer Space the video game is about surviving enemies and making it to the end of the level.

Selection of Content

The Selection of Content is what content is in the game such as the visual that are used in the game, the sound that are used in the game, the images that are used in the game, the sequences that are used in the game, the colour scheme that are used in the game and the fonts that are used in the game. The content that is used in the three game have similar themes like post-apocalyptic, however each game has a different interpretation as the apocalyptic, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies and DayZ takes place after the apocalypse has happened and most of the damage has been done, but Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game takes place during the apocalypse and the main character can prevent most of the main damage from being done.

Construction of Content

The Construction of Content is how the game is setup in terms of progression of both the story and the levels. DayZ is an open world game with no story, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies had a story that was in the background and had several level and our game Killer Klowns from Outer Space the video game is a game with a linear story and several different levels.

Codes and Convention

The Codes and Conventions is how a game is set up like other video games, does the game have a first or third person perspective, how is the characters designed and how is the HUD set up. DayZ is a mixture of third and first person perspective, has characters with basic designs that are similar to people you would see in real life and has a basic HUD with only your health, ammo and hunger and thirst metre. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies has a first person perspective, has character designs similar to people you would see in real life and has a HUD that tells you of your health, ammo and items. Our game Killer Klowns from Outer Space the game will have a first person perspective, will have designs based off of characters from the movie and will have a HUD that shows your health and ammo.

Target Demographic

A Target Demographic is the target audience's age that the game developers think that the game should be made for. The target demographic for all three games are similar because all games feature an invasion that is killing the inhabitants of a small town, due to this all three games' target audience is young adults and adults.
